Symptoms
- The model might suddenly disappear when attempting to zoom in.
- The IFC is difficulty to manipulate and seems to jump from one position to another
- On top of those symptoms, elements look broken or deformed.
Causes
These behaviors might very well be caused by how the coordinates were set up.
Our Viewer cannot process large coordinates. This means that if in the source model, the distance between the Survey point and Project base point exceeds a few KMs (which can often occur when world coordinates are involved), our Viewer will then process the scale of the model based on that distance. This large scale will cause the model to be tiny and disappear as soon as you attempt to manipulate it, or other times it will interfere with the display of the textures and objects.
Resolution
Before exporting the model as an IFC, the Survey point should be established next to the Project Base point to avoid any issues and improve the performance within our Viewer.
Double check how were the Shared Coordinates defined, especially if you're working with models coming from different platforms. For more information about this topic, please consult Setting Up Revit Shared Coordinates.
